In late 2024, our operations and maintenance teams in the UAE were delighted to host colleagues from Egis' teams in France and Turkey to exchange best practices, gain fresh insights, and brainstorm new ideas to improve infrastructure maintenance in the region.
Egis is responsible for seven road structure O&M contracts (bridges, tunnels, underpasses, etc.) totalling 288 km, from Abu Dhabi in the South through Dubai and Sharjah to Ras Al Khaima and Fujairah in the North of the country.
The visit involved Project managers, engineers, supervisors, and other staff members. Through interactive workshops, site visits, and roundtable discussions, the teams addressed safety enhancement measures to protect users and staff as well as Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) improvement opportunities.
Safety enhancement topics ranged from vehicle positioning, cone and barrier placement, and safety wear to traffic management measures, use of signage, new technologies for debris collection, and other routine activities to minimize human intervention, enhance information sharing, incident coordination, and follow-up.
ESG topics included telematics systems, fuel consumption, solar energy integration, and recommended equipment.
The mission successfully identified opportunities to enhance the overall efficiency, safety, and environmental sustainability of maintenance activities. The recommendations provided will help in achieving service excellence and continuous improvement in line with the Egis ‘O&M Signature’ quality management approach.
