The 2020 TAC Conference & Exhibition will take place from September 21st to October 8th online. Attendees will have access to 40+ technical sessions, organized into 16 tracks during the three-week conference. This year’s theme is The Journey to Safer Roads, marking the end of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety. Kleinburg Village in the City of Vaughan is a premier commercial area presented with an array of transportation issues. The City’s Kleinburg Parking Strategy is being implemented to address short-, medium-, and long-term needs. The short-term issues present as insufficient public parking, but it is evident that parking is also mismanaged and misused. Medium- and long-term solutions include securing public parking, encouraging sustainable travel, policy revisions, and emerging technologies.
Trails Missing Link to the Existing Network of Pathways – Opportunities and Challenges

Over recent years, the progress made for pedestrian safety improvements across Canada is nothing short of astonishing, with the number of kilometers of pathways and trails growing exponentially across the country. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of eliminating missing links within the City of Markham existing pathway and trail network in hopes of providing better connections.

Mehemed Delibasic, Assistant Vice President, Transportation Planning & Traffic Engineering: Mehemed has over 22 years of comprehensive experience in the fields of transportation engineering, transportation planning, project-program management, and business development in the public and private sectors. Mehemed worked on projects encompassing a broad range of transportation fields including, transportation master plan studies, transportation demand and traffic management studies, transit planning and implementation projects, transportation impact and traffic safety studies, active transportation studies, municipal and provincial class environmental assessments, road design projects, and traffic operations and parking studies. Sara Akkaoui, Engineering Intern, Public Infrastructure: Sara is an Engineering Intern – Junior Designer in the Municipal and Transportation Division and Contract Administrator at McIntosh Perry. Sara obtained her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering at Carleton University and started her career at McIntosh Perry in August 2016 as a Construction Inspector, gaining various experience from the field which was a major asset to detailed design practices in the office. After gaining experience in the field, Sara started her position in the office working on various projects designing roads, including intersection modifications, road widenings and cycling facilities. In addition, Sara’s experience includes CAD drafting, assisting in project management, tender document preparation, detailed construction cost estimates, feasibility and MCEA studies, road asset management, contract administration, and public speaking.
