This project opened up development on the south side of the Castor River with the planning and engineering of a multi-service under-river crossing, a large scale jointly developed municipal pump station, over 4 km’s of sanitary forcemain and a stormwater management facility that doubles as a central park area for residents. Multiple versions of servicing options were considered and extensive negotiations were held with the County, the local Municipality, the local Conservation Authority, adjacent property owners and even the School Board. This resulted in the successful completion of Phase 1 of a multi-phased project that will encompass upwards of 750 new homes on two major sites in the years to come. The under-river crossing, pump station and 4 km forcemain were completed using the Design-Build delivery model, while the subdivision servicing work was completed with the more traditional design-bid-build model.
