The Ministry Of Transportation intends to replace the Duchesnay Creek Bridge, remove the existing CNR overhead bridge and complete the pavement rehabilitation of Hwy 17b for 1.2 km easterly of the Hwy 17 junction. The highway profile will be lowered at the location where the CNR overhead bridge is being removed. All the work under this contract is in Commanda and Widdifield townships, MTO Northeastern region.
Hwy 17b through the project area is classified as RAU (100) Rural Arterial Undivided and is a two-lane highway with traffic volumes of 2800 vehicles per day (AADT). The existing 10 span Duchesnay Creek Bridge will be replaced with a three span concrete deck on glulam girders supported on concrete piers and abutments with tube pile foundations. The new bridge will have a widened concrete deck.
