This project involved the integrated road reconstruction and replacement of existing infrastructure on Aylmer Avenue, Carlyle Avenue, Colonel By Drive, Downing Street, Fulton Avenue, Glen Avenue, Pansy Avenue, Seneca Street, Canal Woods Terrace and Woodbine Place in the neighbourhood of Old Ottawa South. In total, over 2.1 km of integrated road reconstruction was completed as part of this project. The project required the sanitary sewers to be replaced due to their age and deteriorating condition. The watermains were replaced as they were nearing the end of their lifecycle, and there was also the presence of lead services. There was minimal work completed on the storm sewers, which were protected during construction. All water and sanitary service connections were replaced to the property line. During construction, McIntosh Perry performed Contract Administration and Inspection services in cooperation with the City.

Replacing the sewers was a vital component of the project, and our team successfully replaced 2 km of sanitary sewers, ranging in size from 250 mm to 450 mm, and 2.1 km of 150-200 mm diameter watermain. The existing storm sewers in the area were replaced in the 1970s as part of a previous sewer separation project and were in good condition, so it was essential to protect them during construction. All catchbasins were replaced to accommodate geometric changes to the roadway and associated shifts in curb location.
