McIntosh Perry was the prime consultant providing Project Management and Contract Administration services for this complex construction assignment. This project is considered to be Ottawa’s most significant infrastructure investment since the building of the Rideau Canal. This high-complexity multi-year assignment included the widening of Hwy.417 by one lane, the widening/rehabilitation of structures, the widening with superstructure/substructure replacement of Hurdman Bridge – while still being utilized by the travelling public. Also, the project required removal and replacement of two structures using rapid lift technology, improvements to illumination, signage and traffic signals, temporary road closures, and temporary/night-time closures.

McIntosh Perry provided the administration for the construction of a pedestrian bridge linking Coventry Road with the VIA Train Station as a cash allowance in concert with this larger project and under the same consultant agreement. City staff has acknowledged us for our ability to keep the project on schedule and budget – despite numerous project challenges encountered.
