McIntosh Perry has been retained by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) to complete the detail design services and Class EA Group “B” study for the replacement of three bridges on Highway 400 at Dunlop Street, Anne Street and Sunnidale Road in the City of Barrie, Simcoe County. The new bridges will accommodate the future ultimate widening of Highway 400. McIntosh Perry is providing detail design services for the following:
1) Reconstruction of the Dunlop Street and Highway 400 Interchange; 2) Removal and Replacement of Dunlop Street, Anne Street, and Sunnidale Road Underpasses; 3) Widening of the City of Barrie’s municipal roads from 2 lanes to 4 lanes; and 4) Reconstruction of Highway 400 NB and SB for 3.8km (2018)
The project also includes a Class EA study, as well as extensive stakeholder consultation. New profiles and numerous utility relocations are involved. Improvements include structural and non-structural culvert replacements, Highway 400 median barrier replacement, storm sewer replacement and partial illumination. A new noise barrier, overhead signs and retaining walls are all part of the scope. Traffic assignment includes level of service and capacity analysis for existing and planned construction year conditions.
