McIntosh Perry carried out the site investigation of 11 sites, followed by the preparation of preliminary design reports for each site. In these reports, McIntosh Perry presented the preferred rehabilitation or replacement strategy for each site using financial analysis.
McIntosh Perry recommended immediate design work on a total of six sites, while making a recommendation of no work on the remaining five structures. Once the City of Markham team accepted the recommendation, McIntosh Perry organized detailed design contract packages for each of the recommended sites. This in-depth design included structural design, species-at-risk screening, extensive liaison and coordination with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) in order to secure permits for work being done in and around watercourses, and Geotechnical investigations, as well as communicating with CN Rail during construction.
