McIntosh Perry is proud to announce that our Partner Firm in the U.S., Beam, Longest & Neff (BLN) was retained by Northern Indiana Commuter Transit District (NICDT) in Northwest Indiana to offer real estate and demolition services in compliance with the Uniform Act for the ‘Double Track’ and ‘West Lake Corridor’ passenger rail projects.

Both projects are massive federally funded rail projects located in Northwest Indiana (within the shadows of BLN’s Regional office in Hammond, IN). Together, these monumental infrastructure projects will be a much-added upgrade to the existing passenger railway, allowing passengers to reach high-growth areas from Chicago, IL, to South Bend, IN.

About the Project

The Double Track project expands a 26.6-mile stretch of the existing South Shore Line (SSL) from a single track to a double track. The West Lake Corridor project is an approximate 8-mile southern extension of the existing SSL. Both projects include constructing all rail, signal, power, platform, and other associated infrastructure improvements throughout the project corridor.

Purpose of the Project

With a combined total construction value of over $1.5 billion, the project’s main objective was to reduce commuter time in and out of Chicago which, in turn, will positively impact local economies.

Services Offered
