CCI Group (now McIntosh Perry) was recently honoured with the distinction of one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Considered by many to be the standard of business excellence in Canada, the Best Managed program has been recognizing companies since 1993 for their strategy, capability, and commitment. Every year hundreds of companies compete for this designation and undergo a rigorous and independent evaluation process of management skills and practices. It’s not an easy process, and out of the many companies that apply, only a few are selected. We were regional finalists in 2009, 2010 and 2011, and very proud to have been chosen as a Best Managed Company in 2012.

One of our competitive advantages is our history. We’ve been providing high-quality engineering services since 1972 and there’s not a major building in Toronto that we haven’t taken part in. We’ve performed over 50,000 projects and all that experience guides us in finding a solution that meets the needs of our clients.
It’s also our people. We’ve benefited from strong leadership, and most of our senior management have been with us for more than 15 years. All that experience sets us apart – if you have a problem, we’ve seen it and dealt with it. It also provides our clients with continuity. They know who to call when they need our services, and we value the relationships we’ve formed over the years.
As our clients have grown from local, to regional to national companies, we’ve kept pace and grown with them. Over the last few years we’ve opened offices in Montreal, Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver, all with the aim of serving our clients across the country.
We also diversified our service offerings, expanding beyond inspection and testing into offering services for the entire building lifecycle. We can perform environmental site assessments before the property is even built, structural design for new buildings, property condition assessments and restoration work for existing buildings, and demolition surveys for buildings that need to be torn down. To help support our growth, we acquired three other companies that focused on services that compliment our existing offerings. We’re always looking to add to our team.
Even with all these changes, we’ve kept an open and supportive corporate environment. We encourage new and junior staff to take on new responsibilities to expand their skill set, and our open door policy means that everyone’s voice is heard. We also encourage our junior staff to have contact with clients, something that larger engineering firms don’t offer.
We’re also a company that believes in giving back to the community. We support many initiatives, including supporting food banks, homeless shelters, Habitat for Humanity, toy drives and UNICEF. We also sponsor engineering programs around the country with the aim of helping the next generation of leaders in the engineering field.
