McIntosh Perry to provide Engineering/Planning for the Canadian International Hockey Academy
McIntosh Perry is teaming with Robert Bourdeau, of Robert Excavating, to provide the project management, land use planning and civil site engineering services required for the development of the Canadian International Hockey Academy (CIHA) to be located in the City of Clarence-Rockland, in Eastern Ontario. CIHA will be a ground-breaking new campus created for ambitious, high-achieving students interested in combining a strong academic education with exceptional hockey instruction.
Specifically, McIntosh Perry will be involved in overseeing and coordinating the work of all consultants, ensuring all required information and submissions are prepared and forwarded to the municipality in a timely manner. MPCE will also be responsible for completing the site plan application, and review of the Rezoning and Official Plan Amendments to be undertaken by the City. Lastly, McIntosh Perry will prepare all required civil engineering reports and drawings for site servicing, grading and drainage, stormwater management, sediment and erosion control, and utilities, as well as obtain all required Ministry of the Environment approvals.
The Academy will be approximately 159,000 sq.ft, and consist of a student residence, dining hall and a twin ice arena; as well, there will be an outdoor hockey rink. At present, collaborative work is being undertaken with the City to develop ancillary recreational uses on-site that will be used by both CIHA students and the community. Construction is anticipated to be complete by December 2010.
